Manuel Cadena passed away suddenly in New York in late June 1997. The cause of death has not been officially ascertained (congenital abnormality), but was deemed to have occurred in a non-violent manner (he was out jogging and suddenly collapsed). The Manuel Cadena Educational Fund was founded in honor of Manuel. The fund is an ongoing attempt at community outreach for educational endeavors such as tutoring and scholarships.
